Lessons From The Past Week

I started last week asking if you had ever kissed your Bible!
I haven't until now.
This was a gift from a Missionary that shared with me
about when they gave Bibles and coats to the women
making these baskets by hand.......how they kissed their Bibles.
I will always look at this basket and think of coats and Bibles.
The rest of the week I taught on how to carve out some "Me Time."
We as women, always put ourselves last.
The same girl that gave me the basket taught me
many years ago to never let a day go by without
doing something for myself.
It's also very important to have
special time for you and your husband.
I know one woman that put her children before her husband.
The children grew up and it was just him and her.
They didn't know each other.
They ended up divorced.
Sad.
We  learned that a marriage is just like a garden.
We have to be careful and not let the weeds take over.
The very best way you can take care of your husband,
is to take care of YOU first.
We are all getting older but you have to
need to be positive about yourself and not negative.
I shared a conversation I had with a friend and
all we did was put ourselves down.
We need to say to ourselves....
I am beautiful.
I am good enough.
I am not afraid.
I am smart.
I am strong.
I am worthy.
I am trusting.
I am not going to worry.
 I am blessed.
I am HIS and HE is mine.
I am the daughter of the King Of Kings!

That's Important To Me

Not plannin' my day around the T.V. set
Payin' our bills and stayin' out of debt
That's important to me
That's important to me
Openin' the windows and lettin' in air
Holdin' hands when we're sayin' a prayer
That's important to me
Yeah that's important to me
Havin' somebody to share my life
Loving my husband and bein' a wife
And the very best mother I can be
That's important to me

Tellin' the truth and bein' real
And feeding my family a home cooked meal
That's important to me
That's important to me
Plantin' a garden and watchin' it grow
Keepin' it country on the radio
That's important to me
Yeah that's important to me

Always havin' you to hold
Bein' beside you when we grow old
And they'll plant us 'neath that big oak tree
That's important to me

Believin' our dreams,
Still bein' ourselves if we ever get there
That's important to me
That's important to me
Yeah, that's important to me
Hm.... that's important to me
************************
I want our children and grandchildren to know
how deep we love, what is important to us, and hope they have this same love that we do.
That's important to me.
Special note: We went squirrel hunting and Sweet Hunter stopped and carved our initials in this tree.
I loved it.
That's important to me.

Lesson Reminders

1974. Me & my first baby, a boy.
My dream was to be a Mother and a wife.
I always wanted to have a boy
first so he could be the protector for my girls!
We learned in this lesson that babies are so sweet and cuddly but
when they are little are the easiest times.
Treasure them because they grow up while you are not looking.
When they are little,
Your children step on your toes.....
When they are grown,
They step on your heart.

Today we talked about slowing down.
There is always so much to do especially for women.
It doesn't matter what's going on, we still know
that the laundry, ironing, cooking, etc.
still has to be done.
I have learned that if you stay home, you save money.
That's a fact.
Some complain that they can't be home all the time,
but treasure the times you are.
Today is all we have.
I have a friend that encouraged me to not let a day pass that I don't do
something for me.
No matter what I am doing, if Sweet Hunter says....."Lets go fishing!" I say, "yes!!!"
Some husbands never ask their wife to do anything with them.
The housework will always be there.
Lighten up. Go have some fun.
Just keep your priorities in order.
Slow down. Enjoy the process.
"Less speed, more haste!"

Today we discussed  how important
it is to keep a clean house but
not to worry about it being company ready.
If it's good enough for your family,
it will be good enough for guests.
After all, your family is the most important people.
Home is suppose to be where we live and relax.
It also is my place of employment.
I am the manager of my home.
Our homes should be a little piece of Heaven to us.
How can it be Heaven if it's not clean?
The whole point of slowing down is to not get sidetracked
going here to there and there to
here never accomplishing a thing.
All day today I sang this song that a sweet friend sent me.
'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word
Just to rest upon His promise,
Just to know, "Thus saith the Lord!"…

Cleaning your home and cooking meals for your family, starts with loving them.
It all has to do with attitude.
Sometimes we have to have an attitude adjustment.
Some want to do it all, have the best and go, go, go,
while all the time they have it all right
at home. Learn to appreciate the "little things."
The little things are not out in the world.
They are inside of  YOU.
YOU are home.
Pray for it if you can't find it.
I think Laura Ingalls Wilder captured it best when she said, "And just as a little thread of gold, running through a fabric, brightens the whole garment, so women's work at home, while only the doing of little things, like the golden gleam of sunlight runs through and brightens all the fabric of civilization."

Little Things To Do For Your Husband.
1. A clean house.
2. A hot meal.
3. Making the bed for the day.
4. Turning the bed down for the night.
5. Light a candle.
6. Peaceful music.
7. Having his coffee ready the night before for the morning.
8. Putting him first in everything after my Lord.
9. Being frugal.
10. Be kind, gracious & Respect him as your leader.
11. Love him.
12. Being ready when he says, "Let's go!"
13. Listen.
14. Be a wife he can trust.
15. Have his back.
16. Support him.
17. Esteem him in front of others. We don't have to say a word.
18. Be a safe place for him.
19. Be a passionate wife.
20. The most important thing is to pray for him.
And Do it all as unto the Lord.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:12

Words.
They tell who we are.
They tell what we listen to.
They tell what we watch.
Words can hurt. Words can encourage.
Words can be forgiven while not ever being  forgotten.
The tongue has no bones yet is strong enough to break hearts.
Words are powerful.
Think before we speak.
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. Proverbs 25:11

Apples Of Gold

Many years ago I found a program that I wanted to do at Church for young women.
It was called "Apples Of Gold."
It's a 6 week mentoring program
where you teach young women
how to cook, how to set a table, how to love their future husbands & children that aren't born yet.
Each session included one hour of a cooking class, one hour of a Bible study based on Titus 2:3-5, and a fellowship hour enjoying the food that was prepared.
I immediately had this on my heart.
I think every young woman would benefit from this.
I know I would have loved it when I was younger.
Well, time went on, and I didn't pursue it but it was still on my heart.
One day, it hit me that I could do this via Facebook and probably reach more young women.
Granted I don't follow their lessons exactly because we are not one on one but I love the concept and
have the heart of a teacher.
I have got almost 40 young women that do follow my teachings on Facebook.
I actually feature our farm on there but in the mornings I try to
teach if it is on my heart.
There are over 2300 following my page.

I was married when I was very young and was divorced.
I don't believe in divorce but it happens.
Sometimes we just make mistakes.
So you see, its not that I know everything....that is for sure.
I am married to my "Sweet Hunter" now and have been for almost 39 years.
We have 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren.
I am truly the "older" woman in Titus 2:3-5 and that's why I teach about home on this page.
This is just what the Lord has laid on my heart.
I love HOME and love to share all about it.
Once a week ( probably on Sundays), I will be doing a
recap of my lessons on here just in case there might be
someone out there in blogland that would like to read them.
It is my heart.
Please know that I don't do any of this because I think I know more than anyone.
I ask the Lord to help me teach.
I started this blog because I wanted to help my children and grandchildren to know there is true love out there.
I wanted them to see their Mom & Dad that truly loves.
I wanted them to learn to cook and know how to run a home.
I wanted them to know it's not all about "me" but about others.
I wanted them to know to put the Lord first in their lives.
I wanted to teach them to love their husbands and love their children.
This is why I teach.
Not because I am perfect, but because I am not.
I do this humbly and with prayer.

The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Titus 2:3-5

Snow Days At The Farm

This was 4:30 in the morning!
I was so excited!

The animals still have to be fed!
This morning I made them pancakes!
This was before the bigger snow came in.
This was just a dusting on my garden.
My cabbage actually loves this cold weather!
It took my chickens 3 days before they
actually started getting out of the runs!
I don't think they like snow too good!

Sweet Hunter helping me haul water!

Our River!

Who would have ever thought we would
have land bordered by a beautiful river?

Love our birds!

I thought this picture looked like a painting!

There are actually 3 red birds in this picture.
Can you see them?

We only got 1 1/2-2 inches
but that was enough to make me happy!
It was still so cold but the sun was melting the snow.

The sun was shining but it was still 26 degrees!

Most the snow had melted here!

Love our birds!

Our Great Pyranees!
Lily is 11 weeks old!
She's gonna be a chicken guard dog when she grows up!
She loved the snow!
***********************

Some think I am crazy but this is my favorite time of year!
I LOVE snow!
I love it as long as we have power and water!
I love to cook.
I love our wood heater.
I love being snowed in with "My Sweet Hunter"
with nowhere to go
And nothing and everything to do!

My Christmas Gift 2016

Pictures are not the greatest quality but there is a video also.
We went to visit the grandbabies on Christmas Day
and the girls gave me my gift that day.

When I opened this and saw
what it was I could not believe it.

I have blogged here since 2007!
When I opened this present
it was a book of my blog posts
& pictures from 2009!
Sweet Hunter didn't have his glasses on
but he finally figured out what it was.
Look at his sweet smile!

Yes, I cried!

The whole year of 2009 of my blog!
I never thought they could top
last years gift of the table runner.
If you missed that post you can see it HERE!
A special thank you to my girls!
They know me well.

Looking Back

This is actually Christmas 2015!
I wanted to share this with you
because my next post
will be what my girls got me this year!

We usually wear pajamas at our family Christmas parties!

I had no idea what this gift was!
The basket was full but they
wanted me to open this one first!

Although I had took a break from blogging
here, I still put lots of pictures
on facebook on a page I do called
"Our Forever Farm."

You can tell by my face that I was more than surprised!

They had took pictures off my facebook page
of our farm and put them on a table runner!
It is amazingly beautiful!

We could not stop looking at it!
I didn't even realize they looked at my page!

I had never received a gift like this.
It meant more than they will ever know!

Honestly they will never know.
They gave me lots more but we couldn't stop looking at this.

Every picture had a story.
And HOME is where our story begins!

Don't even ask me what we were laughing at but
whatever it was, it was hilarious!
I have lots of favorite pictures
of  "us" and this is one of them!
Here is my table runner that the kids gave me!
This is a treasure!
I will cherish it forever!
Looking back to our
Christmas 2015!
